Fortnum & Mason, UK
We are all guilty of it. Whether we work ourselves to stress or we sit and procrastinate, there is always a part of workaholic inside us all. Now I am one of these people that can just work and work and work, without realising the time or anything that I have neglected. Just a few months ago was my one-year anniversary with Nathan (boyfriend & photographer), but both of us was so busy and stressed with university and moving into our new home that we had somehow almost forgot. We didn’t forget, because we still got each other gifts. But when the day came, it was just like any other day. It wasn’t too long before I realised that both of us failed to make that day special. He didn’t buy me flowers and I didn’t get him a card.
Only after that did I realise that I hadn’t actually looked at him in a long while. Properly looked at him. I hadn’t spoken to him, like I used to. And all because of what? For that extra blog post? For that hefty chemistry lab report? No matter what, we should not forget the importance of special people around us. More importantly, don’t allow it to become too ‘normal’. This also comes after around a month of being ill and therefore not posting regularly on the blog. On our day out, we chose to go to one of our favourite places on the planet, Fortnum & Mason.
Our Busy Lives
With both of us at university, both of us doing ju-jitsu twice a week, me running my own small business Pearls of Sphere and this blog, we really don’t have that much time between us. It is honestly sad, because we all say that we shouldn’t take anyone for granted, and that we should live everyday as if it was your last. But how many actually live to those words?

Unfortunately, the dress I was wearing is now out of stock and the bag is an old one from River Island. I have however linked the closest I could find from the same brand.

Working to Your Best
Modern adult life is designed to be stressful, whether you are studying or working. But being able to look away from the stress is the true strength of adulthood. Its important to just take a day (or more!) out if it all feels like it’s getting a little too much, and it certainly happens to everybody, no matter how successful you are. Also, as stress and pressure mount up, it becomes more and more difficult to work. So, to produce a good level of quality work, it is okay to take some time to find yourself again.
The Posts you're Excited about
This is targeted at bloggers mainly, but it is an often thing in the world of writing to just hit a mental block. We have all have those times where we sit in front of our laptops or computers and we are digging and digging and digging for words to complete our posts. In the end, we are so frustrated with it that we’re just glad it’s done and out of the way. But should it be like that? I don’t think so.
I believe that as content creators, it is most important that we are proud and happy and excited to hit ‘Publish’ on every single one of our posts. Because mood in language certainly translates. So instead of working yourself into a dead-end, just try and take a step back, gain inspiration from other places, and try again with a whole new mindset.
Discovering Us again
Last year for Christmas I took Nathan and his entire family to Fortnum & Mason for Christmas. So now it is kind of a special place for the two of us. To relive the magic, I decided to book us a table there. The magic worked. We both had a night away from work and our new busy lives and just looked at each other.
Work, Work, Work...
Of course, it didn’t take me long before I realised that I could use the opportunity that I was there to get some pictures to use for a blog post down the line. But it was different, the night was fun for both of us, we had our laughs, we took silly pictures and most importantly we had fun.
The Best Place for Afternoon Tea
Now I presume this is what foreigners (most notably, the Americans) imagine us British do all day every day. And truth be told, I would go there for afternoon tea everyday if I could. The food is incredible, the tea is smooth and unlike anything you’ve ever drank. My personal favourite being the ‘Queen Anne’ tea. The service there is second to none. Every time I have been, every single member of staff is so polite and friendly. The place is classy and relaxing with it’s duck egg green theme, it is all just perfect.
If you have never been for afternoon tea, or are having a trip up to London, make sure you do head to Fortnum & Mason down Piccadilly. Because even if you don’t go for afternoon tea, they still have a multi-story shop for you to walk to your hearts content. Plus! These photos were taken a few months ago, hence why they look quite autumn-y. But the Christmas decorations there right now have got to be insane! If you do go, please tag me in your awesome pictures!
Hope you enjoyed this post! Are there any places you particularly like to go to de-stress?
