On the second day of Blogmas my true love gave to me...
As promised, after every single post about myself during blogmas, there will be a post to help everyone! So today I wanted to take a look through my entire lipstick collection to find 2 in every category in order to give everyone an bit of an insight into lipsticks you could wear during this seasonal time! I have handpicked my favourite nude, pink, red, dark, gloss, liquid lips and metallic lips, hopefully you'll see something you like too!
This series is honestly giving me such a motivational kick, I'm loving it! Also I have officially finished university for the year, so I can now throw myself into this blog and I'm so excited I have so many great stuff planned! I pray that I can pull this off!
You can find Blogmas Day 1 here!
I know I've cheated a little bit here, starting off with 3 lipsticks instead of 2. But that is only because one of the lipsticks was a limited edition one and it can no longer be brought. So to be fair I decided to put in 3 favourites for nudes since these are my genuine favourites!
Out of my entire nudes collection, I have picked Mac's Velvet Teddy, Makeup Forever's Artist Rouge Creme in C108, and Mac x Fleur De Force. Velvet Teddy is probably my nude favourite of all time. Its a comfortable matte and suits plenty of looks & skin tones. And I love how the Makeup Forever lipstick is darker than most nudes it feels very creamy and luxurious. The Fleur De Force lipstick is gorgeous. It's not too light for me and its not as thick as Mac's other creamsheen lipsticks, it's just such a shame you can't buy it anymore!
When I first started getting into makeup, I was all about the pink lip. Red toned, orange toned, it was my kind of jazz. But now I am a bit more refined in my choices and I tend to like the slightly darker pinks rather than a bright pink, especially during the colder months.
For my favourites I have chosen (apologies for both being high end) the Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick in Marie and the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in 17. I have spoken about the Chanel one before in my autumn makeup post. I had been lusting after it for months before Nathan finally brought it for me, because everytime I would walk past a Chanel counter I just had to put it on. The YSL lipstick, can I just say, OH EM GEE. If you do need to invest in a high end liptsick, make it a YSL one. The packaging, the quality and even the smell of the lipsticks are absolutely beautiful and I still love it very much to this day.
Reds, perfect for this season! When I knew I would be writing this post, the gorgeous L'Oreal x Balmain lipstick in Domination was the first one that popped into my mind. I had brought it earlier this year after the collection launched and I just could not believe how perfect this lipstick was. The other favourite red I have chosen shocked me actually, because I had not worn it in a while but after putting it on I was reminded of my love for it.
The Urban Decay lipstick in Manic is unmistakable. the packaging is unique and stunning, and this lipstick has a subtle glittery-ness to it that makes it perfect for the holiday season. As I mentioned above, Domination is by far the most stunning red lipstick I have ever put on. For me, it is just the absolute red shade that I have been hunting for since forever. I am so glad I found it, it just makes me feel so confident and just totally girl boss. And it's only £12.99!
I must admit, I don't wear as much dark lipsticks I used to simply because I have enjoyed playing with my eye makeup so much more and when you have a great smokey eye going on, a dark lipstick would just look a bit too much. But sometimes, if I feel like a total rock chick or if I'm going out at night and can go a little crazier with my makeup, I love them then.
The first one I had picked was this Elizabeth Arden Raspberry lipstick. I got it in a set my mum brought me a little while back and it was my favourite in the bunch. I just think it's great for the holiday season and it is very girly and fun! The other lipstick, one that I knew I was going to include, was Mac's Dark Side. I had fallen in love with this lipstick a while ago after seeing it on a friend. Needless to say it got added to my collection pretty quickly! I love the fact that it's not too overly pink toned, and I believe this could suit plenty of different skin tones!
To be truthful, I don't actually wear lip glosses all that much. But recently, after discovering and watching plenty of Kathleen Lights, I've really gotten back into them. I just love how youthful and bright they can look, and now that we are passed the generation of clear and sticky lip glosses, I think they can be very fun to work with.
Here I have chosen a Ted Baker lip gloss and a Clarins lip perfector. I am not entirely sure if you can still get the Ted Baker lip gloss as I got it as a present I believe last Christmas, and it doesn't have a specific name. However I wanted to include it because I truly think this lip gloss is highly pigmented and beautiful. It is certainly made for Christmas. The Clarins lip perfector is not marketed as a lip gloss, but it applies and looks like one. I really really like this product, I mentioned it in my best travel exclusives post, and I like wearing it no matter what time of year it is. It has a slight tint and just enhances your natural lips, what could be better?
I remember the first time I discovered liquid lipsticks. My first thought was: Wow, a lipstick that doesn't transfer and leave marks everywhere? I was amazed. Little did I know that it would be so hard to find one that literally doesn't suck the life out of your lips.
So my favourites for this category don't do that, and they are Bare Minerals Gen Nude matte liquid in Bo$$ and Kylie Cosmetics in Kristen. I just want to add, if you haven't yet tried or seen the Bare Minerals liquid lipsticks, I suggest you go to your nearest Bare Minerals counter ASAP and just smell it. Don't even need to try it on, just give it a sniff and tell me that you didn't buy it. Because that is impossible! These lipsticks are literally a chocolate fudge cake in a tube, I want to eat it! These are also mega comfortable to wear all day, I am totally smitten. And we have all seen about a million reviews on Kylie Cosmetics, and I think we can agree that despite the negative press about this brand lately, most of her lip products are still really good. This peachy red is my favourite colour of them all and it's great for both summer and winter. The only shame is that her liquid lipsticks do oxidise and gets darker after they dry so just be careful of that.
Again, I'm being honest here, but these are 2 out of 3 metallic lipsticks that I own. Because I simply don't think I can pull them off that well. But a lot of people can and I will forever envy them. I also wanted to include them in here because I know it's the festive season and sparkly things are what we are all about.
So here I have both Kylie Cosmetics metallic liquid lipsticks (even the third one that I own is also Kylie Cosmetics - I really should try other brands!) in Reign and Dancer. Reign is quite bronze with a brown undertone and was actually darker than I would've liked, but I don't dislike it, I think I'm just not sure what kind of look I could create with it because I don't usually go for brown beauty products. And Dancer, while still a little bronze, it is more red toned. I do wish it was more red, but this would be my favourite out of the 3 I own. I purchased this in the kylie Christmas collection last year, hence the different packaging. This one truly is Christmas in a tube and for that alone it makes me happy.
At last I finished this hefty post! I hope you enjoyed these lip choices and I hope it's given you a bit of inspiration for what to wear during this amazing time of the year!
