On the ninth day of Blogmas my true love gave to me...
Yes, 3 days left, 3 days left! I've kind of hit a point where I kind of just want it to be Christmas like, tomorrow? Does the days leading up to Christmas feel antagonisingly slow for anyone else? Well, today we have headed back home for Christmas with a suitcase full of clothes, a huge bag of makeup, and all of our wrapped presents. I cannot even explain how excited I am to watch people's faces as we give them the presents and for me to tear open mine like a madman.
For those of you that don't know, I do jujitsu in my spare time and I have been doing it for 6 years now. This year, I had achieved my 2nd level of black belt (there are 10) after going through problems with my knee last year. And to celebrate it all - along with others who had recently achieved their new black belts, we all went to the annual Christmas ball. That night me and Nathan got super glammed up and I wore the most gorgeous dress from Little Mistress. So for this post I wanted to recreate my makeup look for you, in 9 simple steps!
Step 1 - Prime & Base
Making sure that all my makeup was going to stay for the whole night, I decided to use the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. Originally I had considered using a more moisturising primer, but then I remembered that my combination skin does like to get a bit oily and shiny after a little while, so I decided to go with a silicone-based primer that is potenitally better at minimising pores and keeping shine at bay.
For foundation, I decided to use the L'Oreal Cushion Foundation. I am not normally one that wears foundation and when I do, I like it to be quite sheer coverage as I fortunately don't feel like there is a lot of my skin that required covering. I then blended the foundation with the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge.
Step 2 - Concealer
Looking like a totally crazy village chief over here, is me trying to do a little bit on concealing. Again, fortunately there was not much I needed to conceal apart from my under-eye dark circles, and the rest was just a little bit of highlighting. I decided to use a little bit of Fenty Beauty's Match Stix in Bamboo which is a conceal I've used for a while now and for that little bit extra of light, I used the infamous Tarte Shape Tape.
To set everything, I used the Nars Transluscent Powder.
Step 3 - Contour
Nowadays, this is definitely a necessary step. As it gets further in to winter, I am actually struggling to find a contour shade that isn't too warm. If anyone knows of a good neutral contour shade, please let me know! So this time I decided to carve out my cheeks with the Benefit Hoola Bronzer, which they have very kindly sent me a while ago when I won one of their giveaways. It even has my name on it! Even though this bronzer is warm, I just took a little bit of it, and I do love using their own brush that comes with it because I find it fits my face really well.
Step 4 - Highlight
Again, another necessary step. This is probably one of my favourite steps, and I am always on the hunt for a ultimate highlighter. A post that I had written before shares my top 5 favourite highlighters. On this particular occasion, I decided to use the Topshop cream highlight. It is a beautiful soft gold highlight that would complement many different skin tones.
Step 5 - Eyes
And here is the star of the show! Because we was going to a dinner, I knew I wanted to wear a nude lip, which meant heavy eyes, and I was totally okay with that. On the night, I did in fact use my trusty Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Palette, but for these shots, I actually used my brand new Kathleen Lights x Colourpop palette. I will definitely post a review on this makeup range soon! But for now, I decided to still keep it quite dark with the shade Waterbearer (matte dark teal) on my outer corner and Kaleidoscope (Shimmer silver) on my entire lid whilst using Mermaid Boy (shimmer dark blue) to blend the 2 together.
For mascara I will always go with my extrmemly trusty Max Factor 2000 Calories Mascara. It is the only mascara in the world that I have tried that doesn't smudge or flake, and it gives me great volume and length!
Step 6 - Lips
Like I menioned above, on the night I went for a nude lip which was Fleur De Force's Mac lipstick which I talked about in the Blogmas Day 2 post. However, here, I was too excited to try another new product. So I eventually went with another Kathleen Lights x Colourpop product, their Ultra Satin Lip in the colour Dreamy, which definitely a dreamy soft coral nude. It is very easy to wear and I would be wearing it for a long time to come.
Step 7 - Brows
I got to admit, when I was filming this I totally forgot to do my brows completely. They need doing badly, so I have been really uninspired to fill them in. However, on the night, I did actually fill them in, with my favourite brow product, Benefit Ka Brow! Brow Gel. But here in this instance, I simply brushed them with a spoolie.
Step 8 - Lashes
Sometimes I am far too lazy to be a girl that wears falsies, but I do really love the effect they have on my eyes. Now I have only every tried one brand of fake lashes, and they are Eylure x Fleur De Force lashes because they seem to be the only ones I can trust. I must admit, I didn't really want to share the very sexy face of mine when applying the false lashes, so I've only shown you the finished look. Here I am wearing the 'Fleur Loves' lashes and on the night of the ball I wore the 'Fleur and Fabulous' lashes.
Step 9 - Set
Last but not least, to make sure that all this lovely makeup that we've worked so hard on, last the entire night. Bringing you back to the whole thing about my face potentially getting shiny throughout the night, so my favourite setting would be the Urban Decay De Slick Setting Spray.

One last extra step would be admire all your hard work in the mirror before you head out!
Hope you liked this post, it's a little bit like a video but in reading format!
