There is a part of me that is slightly disbelieving as I am typing this post, I mean, how can I already have 3 award nominations when I haven’t even been blogging for 3 months? The only thing I can say is, hard work definitely pays off, and blogging is certainly nothing but that, but it is also very fun. I have many more ideas for this blog, about the content that I could write and where I could take it. So it is all very exciting. I of course, dream to be a successful blogger – not necessarily to make a living out of it – but to explore a lot of experience that I wouldn’t otherwise get the chance to if I hadn’t stated blogging. I would also like to take this chance to apologise for the lack of recent blog posts, I definitely underestimated how big and stressful moving to university was!
But anyways, back to topic. Even though I fully realise just how saturated the blogging world is, I don’t see it as a problem, because
each one of us are unique, and some blogs might look similar at first glance, but if you spend the time to look closer you will spot the apparent differences such as the way the pictures were taken or the way some have with words. I personally wished I was one of those people, where beautiful creations of writing could just flow out of them and it would be amazing to read. But English has never been my strong point, especially compared against science.
I’m just going to put it down to the fact that I’m bilingual and that English was not my first language.
Nonetheless, hard work is put into all the pieces we read, no matter how big or small or how easy it seemed. And the 3 awards I am about to talk about, although small, are both about raising awareness of other bloggers, because there are definitely quite a few hidden gems.
The Liebster Award
For this one, I have to thank Alice from Travelling Wonderer. As a very new blogger I am thankful for this nomination because it was designed in order to allow other readers and bloggers to easily discover other new bloggers and acknowledge their talent. The way it works is that the blogger who so nicely nominates others will ask 11 questions of their own choice and the 11 nominees will answer them. And then, the nominees will each choose their own 11 questions and 11 people to nominate, and it will get passed around that way so plenty of people can be discovered. So without further adieu, I will answer my 11 questions.
- Tell us about your blog, and what inspired you to start it?
I started this blog not long after my 21st birthday, and I originally intended to use it to promote a business of mine, where I sell real freshwater pearls with high quality 925 sterling silver jewellery. And also to spread the word about pearls, because not many people know about them, when they are just so natural and unique. However over time I decided that I am a huge beauty lover (like most other girls), so I decided that my blog could be a little mixture, because jewellery counts as fashion and style, and we all know a good piece of jewellery could make or break an outfit!
- If there is a takeaway you want visitors to leave your blog with what is it?
I’m not entirely sure what this means, but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t mean a casual Indian on a Saturday night. But if it’s something for people to leave, it would be comments. I absolutely adore reading through the comments on my blog and knowing whether or not people like it, or even what they think I could improve about it.
- Describe yourself in 3 words
Sarcastic, romantic, always-hungry. (what a combo)
- Would you explore deep sea or outer space?
Ohh, this is a hard one for me as I dreamed to be an astronaut when I was 7 years old. But I think now, I would like to explore the deep sea. There is just something so mysterious and enticing about the ocean that I can’t ignore.
- If you could go without sleep, what would you do with the extra time?
Ahh that just would not happen. Sleep is the most important thing I do because I sleep like the dead, and that’s when I recover from the day. So nope, if I had extra time I would just sleep.
- What advice would you give to new (or even seasoned) bloggers?
Don’t be afraid. That applies to both new and seasoned bloggers because new bloggers can be scared to start or even adventure into new grounds, and experienced bloggers can fear how the world sees them. We like you as yourself, and that’s all there is to it.
- How do you create new content, when it seems like everything has already been done?
I don’t really know, I just get inspired by absolutely anything and everything. All I know is that I pride myself on being unique. I find myself thinking about my blog at very odd hours during the day and when I’m doing various tasks. Something as small as a picture or as big as a holiday could give me tons of inspiration, and I will forever thank whoever is watching over me for my creative mind.
- What are your top 3 travel destinations?
Hong Kong (my home country), Prague and Iceland.
- What is your most embarrassing moment?
That time I was collecting an award at school about 8 years ago, and as I walked up the stage stairs, I fell over and the entire school laughed, including the constantly moody headmaster.
- If you could have a superpower what would it be?
Definitely to be able to control time. Being able to stop it, rewind it, go forward etc. But mainly being able to stop it.
- What do you want to accomplish in this life?
That was suddenly very deep. Well, I’d like to have a happy family, and give my future children the best life I could possibly give them. And I would also like to be so successful at whatever I do that I end up having an autobiography.
Thank you again to Alice for giving me these awesome questions to answer! And here are my 11 questions for you my nominees. I look forward to seeing your posts and answers!
- Tell us about you and your blogging career, what got you started?
- Which area of your blog makes you proudest?
- If you could have any job in the world, what would be your dream job?
- What are your favourite fragrance scents? (Fruity, floral, musky etc)
- If you only had access to ONE makeup brand for the rest of your life, what would it be?
- Who is your biggest inspiration?
- Sun or city holiday?
- What is the one fashion piece you cannot live without?
- What’s your favourite animal, if any?
- Where do you want to take your blog?
- Do you have a favourite author?
The Blogger Recognition Award
Again, very grateful that I was nominated for this award just days after the other one, this time by the lovely Diane at Blondee’s Beauty. I was very excited to be chosen for this award as I noticed that the Liebster award was far more common among the twitter world, so to be chosen for this one too, within a month of starting my blog, was an absolute honour. So a massive thank you Diane!
The rules for this nomination are similar:
- Thank the blogger who nominated you (why wouldn’t you anyway?) and provide a link to their blog.
- Write a post to show your award.
- Give a brief story of how your blog started.
- Give 2 pieces of advice to new bloggers.
- Select 15 other bloggers you would give this award to.
- Comment on each blog to let them know you have nominated them, and provide the link to the post you created.
And off I go!
As I mentioned above, this blog started just over a month ago, and it currently covers beauty, fashion and jewellery, including those that I sell. Take a look here!
As for advice… firstly I would say that a blog is not something to be taken lightly. It’s just all too easy to look at all the successful bloggers and all the events and products they get, and think that it’s easy for them. I can guarantee you it is 1000% not easy, and that if your main reason for starting a blog, then I suggest you don’t start one at all. No one ever said it would be easy, but it would definitely be worth it.
My second bit of advice is to absolutely go for it. Whether you are considering to start or have already started. The blogging community is one of, if not the best community I have found. The people that I have met and the experiences I have gained alone, is completely worth every second of hard work. But again, don’t be afraid. In the large blogosphere world there would definitely be things you need to learn or understand. And the great thing is, there are already plenty of us to help you.
The Unique Blogger Award
And last, but not least…. The Unique Blogger Award! Thank you so so much to my lovely babe Jennifer over on Jennifer Grieve for nominating me for this! I mean two nominations were amazing but three is just way beyond insane. So lets go!
- Thank your nominator (Again why would you not)
- Answer the questions that your nominator left for you
- Nominate 5-10 people (and let them know)
- Set questions for your nominees to answer
What advice would you give your teenage/younger self?
There is no need to fit in with everybody else, you are unique and special in your own way.
What are you most grateful for?
My boyfriend, Nathan. Who is also the photographer of this blog.
If you could speak another language fluently, what language would you pick + why?
Definitely Italian, its just so smooth and sexy.
If you could only take one album with you to a desert island (real essential, ik), which would you take?
Taylor Swift’s 1989. I’m an I Heart TS girl I’m afraid.
Do you have any regrets about your blog?
Only that I should have started earlier, but I’m happy where I am now.
My questions for the nominees:
- Who is your biggest inspiration?
- What is at the very top of your bucket list?
- Where do you see you and your blog in 5 years?
- How would you rate your current makeup collection?
- One product you absolutely can’t live without?
And now for my nominations – for ALL THREE awards!
