On the fourth day of Blogmas my true love gave to me...
We made it to the 4th day! That is a tad longer than the last series I had attempted, but lets not talk about that *hides in shame*. But like I mentioned in yesterday's New Year's resolutions and goals post, I would like to stick to my series until the end, no matter how hard they are, so here I am starting now. Did you know that since December has started for us, me and Nathan have not had a single weekend free? We have been so wrapped up in Jujitsu, and yesterday we went to the Blogosphere Magazine's Christmas Festival which was insane, I love meeting more gorgeous blogging gals.
So, on this Sunday where I'm "supposed to be chilling", I instead do the opposite, and bring you 4 ideas for party faces you can take inspiration from for this holiday! Whether you want to glam up for Christmas day, that fabulous Christmas/New Year's eve part, or that family meal on boxing day, I hope you can find something here that can help you if you don't want to go down the whole traditional red lips makeup look, if you feel you're not very good at makeup, or if you just want to go all out because IT'S CHRISTMAS!
Look no. 1 ~ Traditional
I wanted to include a traditional look in here despite what I said because we all love a simple, neutral eye with a bright red lip. Christmas is such a perfect time for a classic red lip, even if you do have a Christmas dinner! I wanted this to be quite simple, a soft eyeshadow look that can be big or small depending on your makeup ability or comfort zone, so it can be brown or black. Then I went with an easy matte red lip that should hopefully last longer than a regular lip but also easy to reapply if needed.
For this look I used the Tarte Tartelette In Bloom palette, using the shades Activist (dark brown) for the outer corner and Funny Girl (champagne gold shimmer) for the lid. I always like to take the exact same colour eyeshadows to the bottom lashes so it can just look that little bit smokey but easy to do. I think it's important to mention here that I don't wear foundation very much and if I do, it'll be a light coverage one. So in most of my makeup pictures I will only be wearing concealer under my eyes. In this post I have only used Fenty Beauty Match Stix in Bamboo as well as the Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara. Lastly I completed the look with Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella, which is a true, slightly pink-toned red.
Look no. 2 ~ Rose Gold
Still keeping it simple and relatively easy, I wanted to create a bright, fresh look that is all about a bit of sparkle. 9 out of 10 girls love a good rose gold, and that is the look I wanted to share with you guys today. Again, a relatively simple and soft smokey eye, with a bit more shimmer on the lids and highlight on the face. This is also for the girls that dislike getting their lipstick everywhere and having a "ring" around the lips after they have eaten. And because of that I wanted to give this look a nude, glossy lip. So it still looks soft and feminine for all the celebrations but not too big of a deal if it's not still on yours lips by 11pm.
So for this look I decided to use my absolute favourite, the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill palette. I mentioned this palette in my autumn makeup post and there are honestly not enough words in the world to describe how much I love this palette. Every shade is perfect and pigmented and it's one I would definitely repurchase. I decided to use Jacz (burgundy) in the outer corner, Sissy (bright pink shimmer) in the middle of the lid and Faint (baby pink shimmer) for the inner portion of the lid to create a soft ombre effect. For highlight here I decided to use the gorgeous Benefit Watts Up highlighter. Its a gorgeous champagne highlight that is perfect for evenings. And lastly I decided to top it off with Fleur De Force's lip gloss in Written In The Stars, which I spoke about in my Blogmas Day 2 post.
Look no. 3 ~ Rock Chic
Now this is quite a different look for the festive season, but I wanted to do a look that slightly darker than usual but still quite chic and wearable. This one is significantly harder that the previous 2 makeup looks due to the winged out eyeshadow which I have done here, but if you're not comfortable with that, then you can just blend it out normally. I've also gone with quite a dark lip, simply because I believe it's a nice contrast for the warmer eyeshadow, and it is a gorgeous colour for the winter.
For this look I have chosen to go for the big winged out smokey eye with Soap & Glory's The Perfect Ten palette. This is a palette they launch every year around Christmas and every year it's different. So even though you might not get the exact same palette, you will still find a newer option. I went with the shades Plumtious (satin dark purple) on the outer corner for the wing, and Choccy (dark brown shimmer) for the lid. For under the lid I decided to go for Smoulder (satin navy blue) just to add a different pop of colour but still keep it dark. I went with a gentle highlight with this look, going with the highlight in Charlotte Tilbury's Instant Look In A Palette. And for lips I knew I wanted to use the Gigi Hadid x Maybelline lipstick in Erin, which I mentioned in a previous post that I absolutely adored for this winter.
Look no. 4 ~ Metallic Gift
Last but not least I wanted to include a super sparkly and metallic look for any of you that want to go completely out there this Christmas. This would be brilliant for any Christmas eve or New Year's eve parties for that extra edgy look. I decided to use both a metallic eye and a metallic lip for this look and I believe that this may be the hardest to achieve in terms of makeup skills and it took quite a lot of blending of the eyeshadows and a nice amount of highlight without going too overboard.
So for this look I decided to dip back into the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill palette, because if I was going out, 8 out of 10 times I would reach for this trusty palette. Using completely different colours, I started of with Buns (matte burnt red) as the transition shade, then I took Hunts (matte orange red) for the very outer corner for that pop of colour, and packed my lid full with Firework (shimmer red gold). Under the lower lash I put in my favourite, Jacz (matte burgundy red). For the highlight I wanted it to shine to the moon, so I chose the Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette. And finally, for lip, I went for Kylie Cosmetics metallic lip in Reign, which is another product I mentioned in Blogmas Day 2.
