When this blog post will be published, it marks the day where I’ve been blogging for a month. Yes, my following may not be nearly as big and I may not have nearly enough followers on social media as someone who has been in the blogosphere for the same time as me. But, I am absolutely relishing in discovering such a great industry and the amazing people within it. Even though this market it completely saturated now, I definitely believe that there is a spot for everybody because we are all unique, and if we can all discover what it is that sets us apart, then there’s always something for everybody.
So as a new blogger, I knew I needed to branch out and network as
much as I can. The first thing I decided was to attend all the events I can. Luckily, I was already a reader and loyal fan of the Blogosphere magazine and I found that they still had tickets left to their summer party. So you can guess what happened next.
So a week ago, off to London me and Nathan (boyfriend & photographer) trotted, and I honestly did not know what to expect. I found myself looking around on the train wondering if anyone else there was headed to this event. But I can assure any new bloggers that you would have absolutely nothing to worry about, and that the Blogosphere Summer Party, is the most beneficial event you could go to.
From the moment I walked into the party location, I knew why the spot was chosen. The beautiful stark white room was filled with shabby chic style mirrors and old fashion windows. There were a couple of seats and sofas around the room, one in particular in front of a feature wall. Everything about this room was perfectly photogenic and was 100% blogger styled. On top of this the staff of Blogosphere had thought ahead and placed a copy of their latest issue on a table and organised it in a perfect flat lay for all our Instagrams – how amazing!
As per usual blogger events, there were of course a few brands there ready to showcase their products, give us more information about them, and allow us to try them and review about them. At this party there was Sekforde drinks, So..? Fragrance and Braun beauty electricals. Sekforde interested Nathan more than me, since I am not a fan on strong alcoholic drinks and this company focused on exciting twists for gin, whiskey and rum. However, the other 2 companies snagged my attention as I had only heard of them, but never tried any of their products. In the end I was kindly given bag full of goodies from all the brands and some of it is so good I actually shared it with family members.
Adding to the amazing day was 3 guests who shared all kinds of helpful tips, and for a new blogger like me, there was honestly nothing more valuable. First up was Deborah from Bang On Style. As an experienced blogger as well as a great photographer, she offered lots of help with regards to taking blog photos such as flat lays and outfit shots and lots of her own little tips as well. Apparently the home-ware section of TK Maxx is great for props! Secondly there was Beth from Beth Eve. She is beautifully kind and a great fellow animal lover. She taught us how to monetise our blogs and how to improve discovery chances. Last but not least there was Simon from Nomis agency to tell us all about talent agencies and how to prevent from getting scammed. So if you are offered big promises and you have to pay, it is likely a scam!
On that special day, I decided it was the perfect time to show off my new Valentino Rockstud flats in blush pink which I talked about in a recent post here. Even now they are a well sought after, timeless pair of shoes.
Overall, it was an amazing experience, I got to interact with so many bloggers – some new, some experienced – but everyone was lovely and the blogosphere is an amazing place to be. One big lesson I learned though: Have business cards because the brands and other bloggers will want them. It is safe to say that I will be trying to go to as many Blogosphere events as I can, and if you subscribe to them, you can find out all the events and dates. I will definitely be visiting this annual party again.
Have you or would you be going to any blogger events this year?
