While I realise that it is no longer summer (technically), and that there is a less chance that many of you will go on holidays, the travel industry does not slow down, no matter what time of year it is. Sure, some months may be quieter than others, but thousands if not millions of people still travel every single day. So from travelling this year, I have discovered some drop-dead gorgeous travel exclusives that I had purchased.
As I spent more time in the duty-free areas of an airport, I take more interest in the travel exclusives section, simply because you cannot
buy them anywhere else, and most of the time they are a set of mini’s, which is perfect if you have never tried a product or even a brand before but you don’t want to spend a fortune on full sized products. Or they can make great gifts, as a souvenir or for special events. Plus, if you want to buy some items on a plane and the airline happened to be doing discounts, then that’s even better!
Here I have four of my favourites to show you, and I will put them all on my face at the end, to show you guys what it all looks like!
Bare Minerals On-The-Go Complexion Kit
This was the perfect example of me trying a new brand out at a fraction of the price. I have never ever tried Bare Minerals before and everything in here is just so perfect as a starter kit! Inside we have mini versions of the original foundation, mineral veil powder and bronzer, a mini concealer, a mini primer, 2 small face brushes and a little makeup bag. I believe this set is great for anyone who wants to give Bare Minerals a go but doesn’t know where to begin. Me basically.
I remember physically gasping when I saw this palette. First of all, can we just talk about the packaging? Second of all, it is just so amazingly cute, yet for its small size it manages to fit 3 eyeshadow shades, a blush, a bronzer and a mini lip gloss. Absolutely perfect for anyone who is in a hurry or doesn’t have a lot of handbag space and just need everything in one place. The best thing about this palette is that Nars have put in their best-selling products, such as the Orgasm blush and the Laguna bronzer. Even the lip gloss is in the shade Orgasm. Has it gotten you excited yet?
Clarins Instant Light Lips Collection
This was the first ever travel exclusive that I had bought, sometime last year. I remember seeing influencers hyping up about the Clarins lip perfectors yet I did not want to spend £18 on a single lip product. So when I found this travel set, I thought it was perfect. For £25 you can get TWO full sized lip perfectors and it just blew my mind when I saw it. Sure, the shade range is limited, but still, what a bargain! I have this set in number 5 and number 6, which are the nicest colours for people with medium skin tones. For paler girls, they also have a set in number 1 & 2.
OPI Go Nudes
Again, this is another brand that I had never tried but always wanted to. Anyone who knows me knows that I am hugely into my nail polish (just wait until you see my collection). But I originally brought this as a gift for a friend, but then I spotted the Clarins set that I mentioned above, and I knew she wanted it ever since she saw mine, so I kept this for myself, and I am so glad I did. These nail polishes are great, they last long without chipping and nude just goes with absolutely everything.
Nails Inc Acai Bowl
I actually found this set along with the Bare Minerals set on a plane this year where they were doing 20% off their products range. Having been a long-time fan of Nails Inc, I knew these could be good, and the colours are just so amazing and vibrant. Sadly, when I got home, the bright pink colour had somehow managed to leak out of the bottle and into the cap which meant that it cannot be used and had to be thrown away. So check your purchases as soon as you can people!
So as you can see, the eyeshadow in the Nars palette is not too over the top and would be amazing for a simple, everyday eye makeup look. The powder foundation from Bare Minerals was good, but definitely not for people with dry skin as the powder would just cling to those areas and it would not look good. I combined both bronzers together and the work well to give me a healthy glow and contour as the Laguna is quite subtle. I really liked the lip gloss from Nars as it was not sticky, but I think it would be better suited to people a bit paler than me.
On my nails, I applied the Dulce De Leche shade and even though it looked quite dark on the initial swatches, on me it turned to be an orange-toned pink nude, so the colour of your skin definitely matters.
What do you think? Have you tried many travel exclusives?
